More than one in four people in the Mayan villages of San Pablo La Laguna and San Juan La Laguna lives with diabetes or prediabetes. Yet for most, quality care has never been within reach — because of language barriers, provider discrimination, and medications they simply cannot afford.
ODIM's Caminemos Juntos (Let's Walk Together) program exists to change that. For over a decade, our team has provided patients with comprehensive, culturally appropriate diabetes care in their own language — something unavailable anywhere else in the region. That means health consultations, home visits, glucose and A1c monitoring, support groups, education classes, cooking demonstrations, and medications at just $1.50 per month.
The results speak for themselves: patients who once felt hopeless now have the knowledge, community, and resources to manage their health with dignity.
This campaign funds six months of operations — $15,000 to make sure not one patient loses access to the care they depend on. Your donation, combined with the dedication of our staff, makes that possible.
