The Challenge Was Canceled — But the Need Is Not
UGC 2025 was canceled — but the moms and babies of Lake Atitlán still need you. Help us raise $25,000
The Need Didn’t Go Away — So Neither Can We.
This year, we had to cancel our Guatemalan Ultimate Challenge due to low sign-ups. But the mission behind it is still urgent:
100 moms and babies in San Juan and San Pablo are depending on our Healthy Mommy and Me program for education, prenatal care, nutrition support, and home visits.
With your help, we can still meet our goal.
Together, we can raise $25,000 by July 18th and ensure these families continue to get the care they deserve.
Why It Matters:
Chronic malnutrition stunts not only a child's growth but also their future. In Guatemala, this affects 47% of children under five (58% of Indigenous children), a crisis deeply intertwined with the fact that 68% of children live in poverty (reaching 80% in Indigenous communities and 76.1% in rural areas). Preventing malnutrition is a powerful way to disrupt this cycle of poverty. Healthy, well-nourished children are more likely to stay in school, learn effectively, secure better jobs, and ultimately lift themselves and their families out of poverty
But there’s hope: global studies show that if we invest in children’s health and nutrition during the first 1,000 days — from pregnancy to age two — we can dramatically improve lifelong outcomes.
Founded in 2015, ODIM’s Healthy Mommy & Me program is rooted in this critical window of development. Each year, we aim to enroll 100 mothers and babies from rural Indigenous communities in San Juan and San Pablo La Laguna.
Our four-part model includes:
✅ Prenatal & postnatal healthcare for moms and babies
✅ Monthly support groups for emotional well-being and peer connection
✅ Education on child development and nutrition using locally available foods, cooking classes.
✅ Nutritional supplements to support healthy growth during critical stages
Please give now — because the need is still here, and so are we.
