ODIM is fundraising to combat the devastating effects of the COVID-19 crisis!

We need your help now!

While the rest of the world begins to re-open, Guatemala continues to experience the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Malnutrition has gone up among our program participants and many in our community continue to struggle to make ends meet amidst the uncertainty of a health crisis that lingers on. With vaccination only at 2% nationally, the end is nowhere near in sight.

ODIM made several changes in 2020 to protect and provide for the community members who rely on ODIM for health and educational services. This included investing in high-quality masks, gloves, and other protective gear, dividing participants into smaller groups to allow for social distancing, and distributing essential medicine and food vouchers to families in need. We need your help to be able to keep these critical safety measures and food programs in place.

We urgently need:

  • $50 to cover the costs of providing a mother with pre and postnatal vitamins for a year. Combating childhood nutrition starts with ensuring that new moms themselves have sufficient nutrition to support their baby.
  • $75 to cover staffing costs for six socially distanced Adolescent Health groups. In order to keep our educational programming running safely, we had to break down our class sizes which tripled our staffing costs.
  • $190 to provide underweight babies in our Healthy Mommy & Me program with life-changing nutritional supplementation for an entire year.
  • $500 to fund the salary of our pre-natal nurse for 1 month, allowing us to continue to provide affordable, in-house care and consultations for soon-to-be mothers.
  • $850 to provide 160 community members each with a bag of healthy food supplies. Our monthly distribution includes fresh vegetables, eggs, rice, beans, pasta, and fortified oats to ensure families have a supply during these difficult times.

Help us now to combat the devastating effects of COVID-19 San Pablo and San Juan La Laguna, Guatemala.
